Spiritual Pleasures: Thoughts About Matthew 16:12

“Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Matthew 16:12

[Note: These are the words of God whispered to my heart after I read the above Scripture. I first prayed James 1:21, asking God to help me put aside all filthiness in the moral cesspool of this fallen world and all evil influence and humbly receive His Word, as His Spirit implants it into my mind to transform the way I think.]

“As a follow-up from yesterday, enjoy the physical pleasures I provide and put before you to enjoy wholeheartedly. Don’t feel guilty or waste the opportunity when you know the pleasure is from Me. If you are not sure it’s from Me, just ask Me. Don’t go looking for physical pleasures–that will lead to trouble. I will provide them and all else that’s good for you.

“Instead, look for My Spiritual pleasures. They include but are not limited to:

  • Meditating on My presence and My voice in Scripture.
  • Pondering My Word.
  • Embracing My Word made flesh. His Name is Emmanuel.
  • Memorizing, internalizing, and savoring My promises in Scripture–all 7,516 of them. You have a long way to go.
  • Worshiping Me. Lifting Me up lifts your own spirit.
  • Discussing every detail of your life with Me, mostly listening to Me.
  • Connecting with your passion that I put inside you even before you were born. I wired you that way. Keep in mind that sin has crossed some of those wires.
  • Helping others, as well as affirming and validating their worth. In My estimation, they are priceless.
  • Planting My love into your grandchildren. Teach them My eternal truths by living them.
  • Looking for evidence of My presence, My Spirit, and My supernatural power around you. Take spiritual pleasure knowing that nothing is impossible for Me. My Spirit is superior, and in Him you are much more than a conqueror!”

[Note: This is my response to God’s personal words whispered to my heart.]

“Father, teach me to seek after and enjoy Your spiritual pleasures on earth every day and not the temporary physical pleasures that neither last nor satisfy.”
